Athletic Club reports 192.9 million euros in revenue and 20.6 million profit for 2025-26

Athletic Club has released its financial accounts for the 2025-26 season, the campaign in which the Basque side returned to the Champions League. The club closed the year with revenue of 192.9 million euros, the highest figure in its history once player sales are excluded, and a net profit of 20.6 million, three times the amount recorded the previous season and double the figure set out in the budget.

The figures were made public in the notice convening the Ordinary General Assembly of club members, scheduled for Wednesday 28 October at 18:00 at the Palacio Euskalduna. The meeting was already announced by president Jon Uriarte during the press conference he gave last Thursday at San Mamés.

Champions League return drives Athletic Club revenue growth

Athletic's return to Europe's top club competition explains a large part of the growth in the sports competition income category. The club took in 59.7 million euros from this area, an increase of 19% compared to the previous campaign. The rise was driven both by the Champions League participation and by improved income from the operation of San Mamés.

Within the overall figure of 153.6 million in sporting revenue, which represents a 16% increase over the previous year and an additional 21 million, the broadcasting section stands out. Athletic earned 81.9 million from television rights, up 13%, a trend the club links to its improved league positions in recent seasons. The club notes that the income generated by LaLiga remained constant during 2025-26.

Advertising, membership fees and squad costs

The advertising and sponsorship segment grew by 23% in 2025-26, reaching 12 million euros. Membership fees, meanwhile, increased by 400,000 euros compared to the previous period.

On the expense side, the sporting squad cost 93 million euros. The final net result of 20.6 million represents an improvement of 13.6 million against the 2024-25 season and doubles the net profit that had been projected in the budget, which was 10 million.

2026-27 budget: 152.6 million without European competition

For the current campaign, the club will put forward a budget of 152.6 million euros in revenue to its members. The scenario reflects the absence of European competition after the team finished LaLiga 2025-26 in twelfth place and failed to secure a continental spot.

The projected result shows an operating loss of 3.2 million. Before provisions and after deducting amortisations, which do not involve a cash outflow for the club, the budgeted net result stands at -17 million. Sports competition revenue falls by 50.7 million compared to the previous season, due both to the lack of European tournaments and to lower broadcasting income linked to the final league classification.

Cash reserves and equity underpin Athletic's financial strength

The club highlights that it has further strengthened its cash position, which now stands at 65.7 million euros. The club stresses that its solid financial situation allows it to carry out its growth plan using organically generated resources without the need for financial debt. The club's net equity amounts to 112.8 million euros.
