An unusual lineup shaped by transfers and absences

Hansi Flick surprised many with a starting eleven dictated by several early-season factors. Without the injured Frenkie de Jong and with new signing Rodri still short of match fitness, the German coach also had to do without players linked with exits, such as Balde, Casadó and Fort, all left behind in Barcelona along with the yet-to-be-registered Bisiwu.
