Lamine Yamal bags brace as Barcelona crush Valencia in Mestalla

Barcelona delivered a statement performance at Mestalla to dismantle Valencia 5-0 and preserve their immaculate start to the La Liga season. Lamine Yamal grabbed a brace while Fermín López, Raphinha and Pedri all found the net in a comprehensive victory that extends their lead at the summit to three points.

The visitors were dominant from the first whistle and never allowed a frustrated Valencia side to settle, turning a hostile reception into a resigned silence long before the final whistle.

Raphinha and Pedri put the game beyond doubt

Any hopes Valencia had of mounting a comeback disappeared early in the second half. Raphinha, once again deployed as the central striker, tapped in his sixth goal of the campaign after good work from Fermín. Stole Dimitrievski did well to keep out Rodri, but Pedri made it 4-0 shortly after with a superb finish following a neat exchange with Dani Olmo.

Gabriel Jesus came on for his Barcelona debut in the closing stages with the points secured, and he almost marked the occasion with a goal, sending a low drive just wide. Fittingly, Lamine Yamal had the final say. He timed his run perfectly to latch onto another pass from Olmo and calmly put away the fifth.

Serie A: Juventus strike late to deny AC Milan

In Turin, AC Milan were denied a crucial away win by Federico Gatti's stoppage-time header for Juventus in a 1-1 draw. The teenage sensation Alphadjo Cisse had given Ruben Amorim's side the lead with a superb finish in the 69th minute, controlling Samuel Chukwueze's crossfield pass with a deft touch before firing low into the far corner.

Cisse had already scored on debut against Torino on the opening day, but Milan could not hold on. Teun Koopmeiners swung in a cross from the left and Gatti, on as a substitute, rose highest to power a header home in the 92nd minute. The point leaves both clubs on seven points, with Milan sitting fourth on goals scored.

Koeman Jr scores two penalties for Telstar in Eredivisie

Goalkeeper Ronald Koeman Jr produced a moment of pure ice-cold nerve to rescue a point for Telstar in their Eredivisie clash with Cambuur. The 31-year-old, son of former Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman, scored twice from the penalty spot, with his second conversion arriving in the 11th minute of added time.

Koeman Jr had converted his first spot-kick in the 63rd minute before delivering the late drama. His first contribution was just as decisive as his second: he also scored from the spot at the end of last season to keep Telstar in the Dutch top flight.

Bundesliga: Mainz thrash Hamburg as Augsburg climb top

Mainz kickstarted their Bundesliga campaign in emphatic fashion with a 5-0 hammering of Hamburg. Sheraldo Becker broke the deadlock in the 19th minute after Kaishu Sano played him in on goal, and he then turned provider for Phillipp Mwene's back-post finish before half-time.

Becker was the architect again for Phillip Tietz's bundled effort, and Tietz added a fourth moments later. Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer then completed the scoring against his former club. Augsburg also enjoyed a superb away day, coming from behind to beat Eintracht Frankfurt 4-1 and move top on goal difference. Arijon Ibrahimovic scored on his debut in the first minute of the second half to level after Jonathan Burkardt's early opener for Frankfurt, with Fellhauer, Claude-Maurice and Rieder adding further goals.
