City's wider midfield rebuild

A potential Gonzalez exit would fit into a much broader shake-up of Manchester City's midfield this summer. Bernardo Silva, Tijjani Reijnders and Rodri have all already left the Etihad Stadium, a striking turnover in an area of the pitch that underpinned years of success under Guardiola.

He does not, however, see a new centre-back as a priority, even with new captain Dan Burn currently sidelined through injury, suggesting confidence in the options already at his disposal in that area.
